Host Your Own Purple Party!
Now that you've read The Purple Series, it's time to bring the books to life and continue the story in your own home. You may be wondering: What is a Purple Party? We're glad you asked.
A Purple Party is a celebration about being you and loving life in the spirit of The Purple Series. To host your own Purple Party, simply follow the steps outlined below:
1. Set the Stage
Send out purple invitations and announce the "Purple Party" theme, inviting your guests to wear the color purple!
2. Deck the Halls with Purple
Go wild decorating your party space with the color purple. This could include purple balloons, table covers, plates, napkins, flowers, candles, streamers, and more.
3. Read "My Purple Toes" or "My Purple Kisses," or both!
It wouldn't be a purple party without reading the books to the children who attend. Challenge them to find the friendly-frog or lady bug hidden on each page. Afterward, you can tell them about the book's lessons and invite the children to share what it means to them. The lessons are outlined here.
4. "Purple Kisses" Game
Cut up notecards and put a piece of tape on the top. Give out enough so everyone at the party will receive a purple kiss from everyone. Have the children write on the notecards something nice about each person there and then go stick it on the child that is written about, giving each child a "Purple Kiss"/warm fuzzy that will make each child feel warm, special, and loved.
5. Color Me Purple
Set up "Purple Stations" at the party where kids can get their toenails painted a vibrant shade of purple. You can use a quick-dry, chemical-free polish made for kids. Once their nails are dry, take them outside and take a Polaroid photo of their purple toes in an environment from the book, such as leaves, sand, and so on. Attach the photo to a piece of construction paper, and let the kids decorate their "Purple Toes" artwork using the theme - "Having Fun & Being Me."
6. Purple Sweets
Order or make cupcakes with purple frosting and arrange them on a table with one at each place. Invite the kids to come over and decorate the cupcakes with purple candies, including jelly beans, sprinkles, skittles and gumdrops. After they're finished, let the kids take a break and enjoy their tasty, handmade creations.
7. Purple Farewell
Send the guests off with their "Purple" artwork and a purple party bag filled with goodies such as a purple lei, stickers, purple pens, etc. Remember to give everyone a big purple kiss on the cheek as they leave!
Happy "Purple Party" planning - We hope it's a rewarding, fun and memorable event!
